ClearVoice now gives you a choice of two AI noise-removal engines, Classic and Beta, picked through a new two-step upload flow instead of one crowded screen. Classic remains the recommended default for most recordings. Beta is a separate, independent AI model worth comparing on your own files, particularly if Classic's result ever doesn't sound quite right for a specific recording.
What Actually Changed
Every file uploaded to ClearVoice is cleaned by an AI Audio Engine that strips background noise, such as fan hum, traffic, air conditioning, and keyboard clatter, while preserving natural speech. Until now, there was only one engine behind that process. ClearVoice has added a second, independently trained AI model as an experimental alternative, and rebuilt the upload screen so picking an engine and picking a cleanup strength no longer happen on the same screen at the same time.
Classic (v1) vs. Beta (v2): Side-by-Side
| Classic (v1) | Beta (v2) | |
|---|---|---|
| Underlying AI model | ClearVoice's original AI Audio Engine | A different, newer AI Audio Engine |
| Cleanup approach | One consistent strength across the whole clip | Also one consistent strength across the whole clip, via a different model |
| Processing speed | Fast | Slower -- expect longer processing time per file |
| Best for | Most recordings -- podcasts, calls, interviews, lectures | Comparing against Classic on a tricky recording |
| Status | Recommended, stable | Experimental -- still being evaluated |
How the New 2-Step Picker Works
After you upload a file, ClearVoice now walks you through two separate screens instead of one:
- Step 1 -- Choose Your AI Engine: pick Classic or Beta. Each option shows its own short description right on the card, so you don't have to guess what either one does.
- Step 2 -- Choose Noise Reduction Strength: pick 50% Natural, 70% Studio, or 100% Maximum, the same three presets as before. A few always-on enhancements (voice presence, studio loudness, consonant protection) are clearly labeled as automatic here, not something you need to decide on.
A step indicator at the top of the screen always shows where you are in the process, and a Back button lets you change your engine choice without starting over.
When Should You Actually Try Beta?
Classic is still the right first choice for almost everyone uploading a podcast, interview, lecture, or video call recording. Beta exists for one specific reason: it's a genuinely different AI model, which means it can respond differently to a recording than Classic does. Consider trying Beta when:
- Classic's result on a specific file doesn't sound the way you expected, and you want a second opinion from a different model.
- You're curious and want to compare two AI approaches on the same clip before deciding which to keep using.
- You have time to spare -- Beta runs slower than Classic, so it's a better fit when you're not in a rush to get the file back.
If you only ever want the fastest, most predictable result, stick with Classic -- it's marked Recommended for a reason.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Beta better than Classic?
Not necessarily. Beta is a different AI model, not an upgraded version of Classic. Whether it sounds better depends on your specific recording, which is exactly why ClearVoice offers both rather than replacing one with the other.
Why is Beta slower than Classic?
Beta runs on a more computationally intensive AI model than Classic. That trade-off can bring different cleanup characteristics on some recordings, but it also means longer processing time.
Do I have to pick an engine every time I upload?
Yes, but Classic is pre-selected by default on every new upload, so if you don't have a preference you can just hit Continue on Step 1 and move straight to choosing your strength.
Is my audio processed privately either way?
Yes. Both engines run through the same ClearVoice processing pipeline and the same cloud-deletion policy, regardless of which one you pick.
